何を持って人と接するか

 伊豆のどんぶり屋の大将。

新潟から来たお客さんが

「今日、ここに移住することを決めました」

と言ったら、

大将は「一緒に飲もう」と言って、

のれんを片付けた。

かっこいいなぁ、と思った。

何を持って、人と接するか。

「和をもって尊しとなす」

聖徳太子が定めた、

日本最初の憲法十七条の第一条。

その一条が守られているなら、

六法全書みたいな、

分厚い本は、要らないのかもしれない。

If that single article were truly upheld,

perhaps we wouldn’t need

thick volumes like the Six Codes of Law.
