 絵描きとは、爆発するような気持ちを

絵にする仕事です。

だから、描く前に

まず自分の中で

爆発するような気持ちがなければなりません。

時には、危ない人になってしまうこともあります。

でも「芸術は爆発だ」と言ったのは岡本太郎。

スイスの彫刻家ジャコメッティも、同じことを語っています。

ただ上手いだけなら、写真で十分です。

Being a painter means turning the feelings of an explosion

into your artwork.

That’s why, before you even start to paint,

you must first have

that explosive feeling within yourself.

Sometimes, it might make you a dangerous person.

But it was Taro Okamoto who said, “Art is an explosion.”

The Swiss sculptor Giacometti spoke of the same idea.

If all you have is skill, a photograph will do.

It’s the explosive feeling—

nurture that seed carefully.
