性格の奥に Beneath Personality

 心理学によると

性格はその人の「特性」ではなく、

そうしなきゃ生きられなかった

「結果」らしいです。

そう考えると、

性格や個性は、良くも悪くも

意味深いものになります。

人を観察するのが仕事なので

表面だけでなく

その根っこまで感じて描きたい。

この人は、何を失わないためにこの性格になったのか。

「必要だった理由」

そこまで描けたとき、

はじめて「見た」と言える気がする。

“Beneath Personality”

According to psychology,

personality is not a person’s “trait,”

but the “result” of having to be that way

in order to survive.

Seen that way,

personality and individuality become

deeply meaningful—

for better or worse.

Since observing people is my work,

I want to go beyond the surface

and feel all the way down to the root,

and paint from there.

What did this person have to protect

to become this way?

The “reason it was necessary.”

When I can paint that far,

only then do I feel

I have truly “seen.”
